How it all works

The Trade Brigade bootcamp ties together the three pillars of trading to provide a framework that offers clarity and confidence. Price action analysis, risk management, and intermarket context are the building blocks of a logical strategy that is repeatable.

1. The importance of price action analysis

Price action analysis is the first and primary tool technical traders use to understand what the markets are trying to do. Every candlestick on every time frame tells a story about what market participants are doing and how they are feeling. As traders, our job is to understand this story, and make educated decisions about what should happen next.

What we are trying to do is understand where, and when, other traders will have to make a choice about the current position they are holding. Their decision, to hold or fold, does not matter, as it just becomes another part of the story. What we learn from this decision will inform our next steps in developing a trade plan.

2. Risk : reward eliminates emotions

Would you step over a dollar to pick up a penny? Hopefully the answer is no, and that's exactly how to think about trading. At the end of the day, being profitable boils down to making the math work. What's your win rate, and what's your R:R ratio? If the math adds up, win draw or lose, does not matter, because over time statistically your edge prevails.

Using the knowledge of price action analysis from pillar one, we can determine locations in the market where it makes sense to try to pick up a dollar, by stepping over a penny.

3. Understanding intermarket relationships

Not all stories are worth listening to for all people. Just like in markets, not all environments are suitable for all traders. You might like jump scare stories, you might like comedy.

Intermarket context provides the backdrop to the type of story being told. Having a solid grasp on these dynamics will prevent you from being scared out of your seat, if you were only looking for an innocent laugh.
